What are the duties and responsibilities of BANK PO?

Probationary Officer Jobs are offered by the banking sector. Every year, IBPS and SBI, offers the post of BANK PO, where millions of candidates appear but only handful of them are able to qualify.
Under IBPS, IBPS PO Exam, a Common Written Exam is conducted every year for more than 18 nationalized banks which are listed under IBPS. It is considered to be the most coveted and awaited exam for all bank job aspirants. IBPS PO Exam is very cutthroat competitive exam. Duties and Responsibilities of Bank PO

After qualifying the most competitive exam of bank i.e IBPS PO, the selected candidate will be assigned various duties and responsibilities. Furthermore, the Probationary officer will have to work in a range of departments depending upon the need such as deposits, Loans and advances, Fixed Deposit, ATM, Credit Card, Pensions, Internet Banking, various accounts related enquiries like Statement for the closure, ATM Card issues, etc.
The assign duties may vary from bank to bank and every department gives official training to groom them to fit into the banking environment to accomplish various responsibilities.

  1. Routine Branch Operations
In the beginning, the Probationary officers are assigned to the basic and routine branch operations such as cheque deposits, clearing, account opening, NEFT/RTGS, withdrawal, etc.

The most confidential, accountable and responsible work is given to the officer who are related to accounts such as Corporate loans, retail loan operations, SME, Credit appraisal, analysis and subsequent documentation relating to various accounts operations. In addition, he may have to visit any site for loan sanction and recovery also.
  1. Customer services:
It is a very challenging responsibility of every bank as they have to efficiently deal with several queries and at times with exceptional requests made by the customers. This requires lot of liveliness, tolerance and patience to talk to the prospective customers. PO may be assigned sales targets such as retail loans, account opening, etc.
  1. Miscellaneous works
Besides accomplishing the customary, fundamental and essential responsibilities with graceful authority, there are numerous other functions such as follow up with customers, preparing reports, MIS related to regional office and other related branches for the selected Probationary Officers.
