On 18th November 2018, IBPS PO Mains exam 2018 was conducted. This competitive exam is the second phase of the selection process of IBPS PO Exam 2018 which consists of four sections with an aggregate of 200 marks for 155 questions. The allotted time to solve the question paper was 3 hours (180 minutes). The aspiring candidates who appeared in IBPS PO Mains 2018 can expect their result in December 2018. DETAILED ANALYSIS OF ALL THE SECTIONS OF IBPS PO MAINS 2018 EXAM
1.      DATA ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION
         
The section of Data Analysis and Interpretation was elaborate and complex. This section had many short sets of DI. There were many questions which had many statement based questions which proved too complex for many candidates. DI questions had three types such as:

-      Radar
-      Caselet
-      Line and Tabular DI

The question based on Number Series had a different pattern where logical approach was required to complete the series asked in the question. Furthermore, you are also required to locate the nth term for the given series. The word based questions were too tricky where the question had a data with a set of questions which proved time-consuming and lengthy for the candidates. You are required to have logical approach to identify the accurate solution. Hence, the candidates experienced too many difficulties in solving this section.


2.      REASONING AND COMPUTER APTITUDE

The section of Reasoning and Computer Aptitude is also very difficult section. In IBPS PO Mains 2018 exam, the questions asked in reasoning section were difficult but no questions were asked in Computer Aptitude. The asked questions were based on topics like Triangular seating arrangement, Rectangular seating arrangement and Linear seating arrangement. The questions based on puzzles were complex and covered major part of this section which also comprised of Data Sufficiency questions. 


3.      ENGLISH LANGUAGE

The section of English Language proved a big surprise for candidates. It is because it had many innovative questions where aspirants were supposed to possess good reading and analytical ability. It has been experienced that every year, IBPS is raising the difficulty level of questions in this section and so it has proved to be a big challenge for the candidates. The sectional cutoff will prove to be very challenging for this section and candidates have to fight out to score well in this section. So, future aspirants should be well-prepared to face even more tough English Language question paper next year. The candidates are required to develop a proficiency in English Language to crack questions from each topic. This section will have short Reading Comprehensions with 2 to 3 questions each. The passages were primarily based on topics like commerce and economic development. The candidates who had good business aptitude and knowledge are expected to have better understanding of these passages. The questions based on topics like Cloze Test and Sentence Rearrangement had different pattern where candidates were required to have good reading aptitude than possessing basic grammar knowledge.  


4.      General Awareness

The section of General Awareness had moderate level of questions. It had total of 40 questions. The asked questions were mainly based on Current Affairs of the last 6 months. The questions based on topics like General Knowledge and Banking Awareness were comparatively less as compared to last year question papers.  

After attempting regular four sections, the candidates were also required to attempt a descriptive test of 25 marks of 30 minutes duration. In this test, candidates are supposed to choose to write a letter and an essay. The letter had a word limit of 160 words and essay had word limit of 200 words. The candidates were asked to write essay and letter on general topics.
