SBI PO DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The State Bank of India (SBI) is the oldest and the biggest banking organization in India. With the boom of internet and mobile banking, SBI is flourishing every year by opening new branches nationwide. Predictably speaking, it has a very strong customer base and landing in SBI as a Probationary Officer (PO) is a “dream come true” job for any aspirant.
If an aspirant know and understand the roles and responsibilities of SBI PO then it will inspire him to strive hardest for this coveted job. After successfully clearing SBI PO exam, the selected candidates will undergo a rigorous training period of 2 years. It is during this period he will be subjected to frequent trainings and transfers.
The probation period will be a great learning experience for him. During the probation period, the candidates will be trained in different bank related activities which will make him acclimatized to the banking environment. The candidates will get accustomed to daily bank activities and will make him efficient in every respect. The candidates will be trained in various important departments like Finance, Marketing, Billing, and Accounting & Investment where he will learn to handle delicate and confidential “monetary issues” of customers with precision and accuracy. The other significant duties and responsibilities include handling and addressing customer queries, looking into complaints regarding bank services, issue ATM Cards, Demand Drafts, Cheque books, rectifying undue charges & discrepancies in accounts. 
In addition, SBI PO’s are responsible for several managerial tasks like supervising the work of Bank clerks, verification of documents, managing cash balance, be aware of the latest developments in the bank, etc. The trained candidates are given more responsible jobs like Budgeting, Loan Processing, Loan Approvals, Marketing, and Planning & Managing Investments. Initially, SBI PO’s are posted as JMGS Scale 1 officer and they may be posted at Local Head Office, Regional Business office, SME Branch, General banking branch or Special Branches or Corporate Office or Zonal Offices or in specialized branches like Cheque Clearing, Pension Clearing etc.
In the post-probation period, SBI PO’s have to go through a screening test where they are appointed as “Assistant Bank Managers” and are posted in one of SBI branches. It’s a reputed designation where the candidates are responsible for handling and conducting daily customer transactions, such as Cash Management, Draft Issuance and Passing Cheques. As compared to other Bank PO’s, the roles and responsibilities of SBI PO’s are more challenging where they have to meet difficult challenges in restricted time. 
The most encouraging aspect of SBI PO’s is that it offers highest entry level compensation in the Banking Industry for Probationary Officers along with 4 increments at initial stages. The State Bank of India offers the highest entry level compensation in the Banking Industry for Probationary Officers along with 4 increments at initial stages. According to the official Notifications, the basic salary of SBI PO is Rs 23700/- where he gets 4 advance increments of Rs 980 which will be added to the basic salary. Now, the basic salary of SBI PO is Rs. 27620/-.
