What Makes SBI PO a unique bank exam? Know here the facts

Banking sector exams hold a prominent place in India amongst those who are seeking recruitment in Public sector banks. There are two such public sector recruitment exams related to banking sector jobs these are SBI PO and IBPS PO Exams. Every graduate dream of a prestigious banking career, delivers their serious efforts in qualifying both these exams. The main object of these competitive exams is to evaluate candidate’s ability of becoming a successful bank PO. Despite the fact that the objective of these exams is almost similar, the exam pattern of one exam is different from other. From past year experience, it has been accomplished that SBI PO is reasonably tougher exam where the sections are more diversified and difficulty levels of questions is also very high. But, still, what makes SBI PO exam different from other competitive exams? Let’s find out!

In SBI PO exam, the sole feature is that marketing is an area of testing candidate’s ability in one of its sections. In this competitive exam, there is a amalgamated section which encompass topics like Marketing, General Awareness and Computers. The importance is given to all the subjects and this section has a total of 50 questions. The questions related to Marketing are generally associated with banking industry and service industry. These questions tests candidate’s presence of mind and common sense and are reasonably simple to answer as well as scoring. After methodically studying previous year papers, candidates can easily understand the nature and difficulty levels of questions.
In various Government job oriented competitive exams, there is a common section titled “Quantitative Aptitude or Mathematics” section, which tests the numerical as well as analytical skills of the candidates. In SBI PO exam, this section is different and is termed as “Data Analysis and Interpretation”, which not only analyzes candidate’s numerical ability but also tests data handling abilities with intricate calculations. The candidates are expected to answer complex questions based on Bar Graphs, Pie Charts, and different types of distribution sets etc. Therefore, the candidates are required to work hard to learn shortcuts, tricks and important values connected to squares, cubes, square-roots, cube-roots, fractions, percentages etc. If you are an incompetent contender then it would be unfeasible to solve these questions in limited time. Thus, SBI PO exam tests by and large the preparation of the candidate where his speed of calculations, understanding of concepts and time management skills.
The Reasoning Ability section of SBI PO is difficult than IBPS PO exam. Even, in its official notifications, SBI clearly specifies that Reasoning Ability will have difficult level of questions. In this section, candidate’s logical as well as analytical abilities are tried and tested. Generally speaking, the questions from topics like data sufficiency, degree of truth or falsity, strong & weak argument, statement-assumption, statement-course of action, statement-inference/conclusion, are frequently and repeatedly asked. The nature of these questions is very tricky and puzzling than other competitive exams.
After the selection process through online objective type questions (SBI PO Prelims and Mains exams), the candidate’s ability is examined in a descriptive test, which is of 1 hour (60 minutes) and carries 50 marks. This exam is a test of written communication in English Language and is carried out in pen/paper mode. The candidate’s has three main writing tasks- a short prĂ©cis, a letter and an essay. The cut-off marks will be decided by the conducting body (SBI). The descriptive test will be evaluated for the students who have qualified both the online objective tests. The final selection is decided by the interview round, where candidate’s knowledge about banking industries, current affairs and general knowledge is tested.
As compared to other competitive exams, SBI PO is more diversified and reasonably difficult exam, which conceptually tests candidate’s ability on various subjects and topics. It licks off the cream of the most deserving candidate and prepares them for a bright banking career. Due to intermittent rise in the number of aspirants, bombastic growth in India’s banking sector and awareness for SBI PO exam, SBI PO 2019 exam is expected to be a severe battle for all the candidates.
